0 1 0Got a telephone call enquiring about the price of the book on Christian Science. Gave him the range, $12 - $90; voice says when I have the money I'll buy one. Just as he's hanging up, he asks to confirm our hours and which side of Willamette we are on. About an hour later biker, Leathers Chains comes in, announces "I called about your book." Showed him the selection; he chose the blue hard back, and dug out a ten and 8 quarters. Had a chat about bikes; no, he did not have a Harley. He was a Honda man, preferred their engineering.
He says
farewell and goes out the door, then returns and says, "It was
your radio program. I was listening to and had a healing." I
ask do you mind sharing what your healing was? "Sure, I could
not bend my knee, and I realized when the program ended I had no
pain and could bend my knee."
He followed this with a statement that many of
the problems in the world were because we do not pay enough
attention to spiritual values. He felt he did, and that
was why he enjoyed the radio program. As he was leaving, I gave
him two Sentinels and explained the relationship to the radio
program. He was thankful for the gift - he was broke.
So what if he smelt of tobacco?
2 0 0 8 (newest accounts first) A young homeless man got a hold of a transistor
radio to listen to Sentinel Radio in his 'homeless camp', and he
shares the program with others living there. A Buddhist in the interfaith community listens to Sentinel Radio and has also started following Sprirtuality.Com on line. -First Church of Christ, Scientist, Eugene
"An attendee of another church denomination who
is a friend of one of our church members, listened to a recent
Sentinel Radio broadcast in April and commented that "not only
is there measured deliberation and deliverance of thought but
such joy! To me this means you (as a Christian Scientist) lead
with the heart -- and that us very important to me."
-First Church of Christ, Scientist, Eugene Last Monday in the Reading Room we received a phone call from a woman who wanted to purchase a set of Science and Health cassette tapes. She told me she couldn't see to read, and she wanted to listen to the book "that they mention so often on the Sentinel Radio program." I volunteered to deliver them to her after I was through in the Reading Room that day, which I did. She was very appreciative. She seemed quite eager to start listening to the tapes. I was delighted to hear from someone who knew nothing about Christian Science, but who had been listening to the radio program and was impelled to actually read--in her case hear--Science and Health. -First Church of Christ, Scientist, Eugene, OR A non-Scientist friend of mine tells me that she listens to Sentinel Radio every Sunday as 'church'. She also has attended Christian Science lectures and at the last one bought a Science and Health. -First Church of Christ, Scientist, Eugene, OR |
