About the event
Emra Farkas, an international speaker and practitioner of Christian Science healing, will present “Can Prayer Be Scientific?” on Sunday, March 15 at 3pm at 1390 Pearl St, downtown Eugene. This free event is open to the entire community and is hosted by The Christian Science Church.
In her talk, Emra will explore universal healing principles found in the Holy Bible—especially in the life and teachings of Christ Jesus—and how these ideas can be understood and experienced through the lens of Christian Science. She shares that dependable results come from a dependable foundation, and that when we begin with a correct spiritual premise, we can discover reliable answers and deeper understanding of God’s love.
Drawing from healings in her own life and professional practice, Emra will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific—meaning its ideas can be tested and proved in daily life. These concepts are explored in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, who founded the Christian Science movement and was deeply inspired by Jesus’ promise in the Gospel of John 14:12.
For more than 150 years, people worldwide have practiced this approach to prayer and spirituality, seeking to follow Christ Jesus’ example and finding healing and renewal in their lives. As a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, Emra travels from her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico to share these ideas with audiences around the globe.
As a special gift to attendees, we will be giving away copies of the Pulitzer Prize–winning newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, as well as the Bible, and Christian Science textbook mentioned above.
We warmly welcome you, and other members of Eugene’s interfaith community, to join us for this uplifting and thoughtful event. Please feel free to share this invitation with others who may be interested.
